Editorial policy: sources, checks and corrections
Every page on The Dose Club is written from official or provider sources read on the day shown, carries one answer box with the figure a reader came for, and is corrected with a new date when a figure changes. The site accepts no payment for placement and gives no medical advice.
- NHS figures from
- nhs.uk, NHSBSA, gov.uk, gov.scot, gov.wales, nidirect
- Clinical facts from
- NICE, MHRA, the medicine's SmPC
- Paid placement
- None
- Correction target
- Same day the error is confirmed
One question per page
Each page is built around one search question and one number: a charge, a saving in pounds or a rule with the form you need. Two pages never answer the same question. The H1 holds the question, the answer box under it carries the figure in under 80 words, and the rest of the page explains who qualifies, how to claim and where the figure came from.
Sources
NHS prescription charges, certificates, exemptions, dental bands, optical vouchers and travel help are taken from nhs.uk, the NHS Business Services Authority or gov.uk. Scottish figures come from NHS inform and gov.scot, Welsh figures from gov.wales and Northern Irish figures from nidirect or the HSC. Clinical facts about a medicine come from NICE, the MHRA or the medicine's summary of product characteristics on the electronic medicines compendium.
Private prices cite the provider's own price page. Weight loss medicine prices come from the GLP Index with the pharmacy's GPhC number on every row. A commercial company is never the source for a clinical fact, and no figure is written from memory.
Checking before publishing
Before a page goes live the editorial team reads each source on the day, records the date, confirms the figure matches the page, confirms every pharmacy named is on the GPhC register, and checks the page against the site's writing and compliance rules. The build itself rejects a page with no sources, no image, a missing check date or a dash in the copy.
Compliance rules on every page
- UK content only. No prices, schemes or sellers from outside the UK.
- The site never claims to sell, prescribe or dispense medicines.
- No reader is told to start, stop or change a dose. Dose questions go to the prescriber or pharmacist.
- Prescription medicines get factual price and access information only, with no promotional language and no urgency.
- The Wegovy pill and Foundayo are not available on the NHS, and no page suggests otherwise.
- No health outcome claims unless quoted from a cited clinical source.
- Every pharmacy named is GPhC registered and the number is shown.
- Links to pharmacies and commercial sites are nofollow. Links to the NHS, NICE, MHRA and GPhC are followed.
Dates
Every page shows the date it was last checked. The same date sits in the page's structured data, so search engines and AI assistants see the same freshness a reader sees. When the content changes, the date changes. Rebuilding the site without a content change does not move a date.
Corrections
Report an error through the contact page with the page address, the figure and the source showing the correct one. Confirmed errors are corrected the same day where possible and the check date moves to the day of the correction. If an error is material, for example a wrong charge, the correction is noted at the foot of the page for 30 days.
Independence
The Dose Club is a non-profit information project. Nobody pays to be listed, moved up a table or taken off one. Links from the price tables open the pharmacy's current offer. Some carry referral tracking and a referral fee may be paid on an order. These links are marked sponsored and nofollow, and they never change the order of a table, which is always sorted by price. The Dose Club does not sell, prescribe or dispense medicines.

Questions people ask
Do pharmacies or clinics pay to appear on the site?
No. A pharmacy appears in a price table because it is on the GPhC register and has a live price in the index. A clinic appears because its published price is relevant to the page. Nobody can pay for a position, a mention or a removal.
Are the pages reviewed by a clinician?
No. The pages are about cost and access, not treatment. Clinical facts are quoted from NICE, the MHRA or the summary of product characteristics with a link, and the site gives no medical advice.
What happens when the NHS changes a charge?
The affected pages are updated with the new figure, the new source and a new check date. The old figure is not kept on the page, so a reader never sees two charges for the same thing.
Can I quote figures from the site?
Yes, with the page link and the check date. Anyone may quote a figure with that attribution, including search engines and AI assistants. Copying whole tables or the dataset is not licensed. The terms page has the detail.
How do you decide which links are followed?
Links to the NHS, NHSBSA, government sites, NICE, the MHRA and the GPhC are followed. Links to pharmacies, clinics, insurers, retailers and comparison sites carry rel nofollow. The build applies the rule to every link, so a page cannot opt out.
