What Mounjaro costs today

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, sold in the UK as a KwikPen with four weekly doses inside. GLP Index checked 80 UK registered pharmacies on 21 October 2026 and recorded the full price a patient pays for one pen at each of the six strengths. The table above is generated from the same data. The figures below describe the spread.

At the starting dose of 2.5 mg the cheapest first order was £88.00 at Medicspot (GPhC 9012559). The median first order was £133.99 and the highest listed first order was £229.00. For a returning customer the cheapest 2.5 mg pen was £105.00 at Curate (GPhC 9012920) with code NEWMONJ, with a median of £153.21.

At 5 mg the cheapest first order was £120.00 at New Health (GPhC 9011199) with code MONJ12, the median was £158.99 and the highest was £244.00. The cheapest ongoing 5 mg price was £125.00 and the median was £179.00.

At 7.5 mg the range ran from £168.00 to £294.00 for a first order, with a median of £208.97. Ongoing, the cheapest was £175.00 and the median £236.74.

At 10 mg a first order ran from £188.00 to £324.00, median £236.74. The cheapest ongoing 10 mg pen was £203.00 at G-1 Nutrition (GPhC 9010938), against a median of £259.00.

At 12.5 mg the cheapest first order was £202.00, the median £254.99 and the highest £344.00. Ongoing, the cheapest was £215.00 and the median £280.00.

At 15 mg, the highest licensed dose, the cheapest first order was £219.00 and the highest £359.00, with a median of £272.47. The cheapest ongoing 15 mg price was £234.00 and the median was £299.99. Over a year at 15 mg, paying the median ongoing price instead of the cheapest costs £791.88 more for the same medicine.

First order price against ongoing price

Most pharmacies list two prices. The first order price is a one-off for a new customer. The ongoing price is what the same pharmacy charges from the second pen onwards. At 2.5 mg the cheapest first order was £88.00 against a cheapest ongoing price of £105.00. At 5 mg the two figures were £120.00 and £125.00. Across all 80 pharmacies the median 2.5 mg pen cost £133.99 as a first order and £153.21 ongoing.

A low first order price tells you little about the bill in month two. Compare pharmacies on the ongoing price at the dose you expect to stay on. The guide to first order and ongoing prices works through the gap in pounds at every dose.

What the price includes

Every figure in the GLP Index export covers the prescriber consultation and standard delivery for one four-week KwikPen. The pen holds four doses. The patient leaflet on emc lists the pack as the pen alone, so confirm with the pharmacy whether pen needles are supplied. Some pharmacies charge extra for needles, next-day delivery, a sharps bin or a follow-up call with a clinician. The guide to what the price includes lists the add-ons to ask about before you pay.

How to check the pharmacy on the GPhC register

Every pharmacy in Great Britain has to be on the General Pharmaceutical Council register. The GPhC advises you to find the registration number on the pharmacy website, usually in the About us section or the page footer, and then search the GPhC register by name or number. Its guide to checking an online pharmacy is plain: if the pharmacy is not listed, do not use it. Every pharmacy in the price table carries its GPhC number. Northern Ireland pharmacies are on the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland register instead.

GOV.UK adds that a consultation with a healthcare professional has to happen before a private prescription is issued, and that GLP-1 medicines should never be bought from beauty salons or through social media. The guide to avoiding fake weight loss injections covers the warning signs.

Who can be prescribed Mounjaro

Mounjaro is a prescription only medicine. A pharmacy cannot sell it to you without a prescriber assessing you first. The UK Summary of Product Characteristics on emc sets the licence for weight management: adults with an initial BMI of 30 or more, or a BMI of 27 to under 30 with at least one weight-related condition. The SmPC lists hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes and type 2 diabetes as examples.

The same document sets the dosing schedule. Treatment starts at 2.5 mg once weekly. After four weeks the dose moves to 5 mg. Further increases are in 2.5 mg steps after a minimum of four weeks on the current dose. Whether you move up, and when, is a decision for your prescriber. This site gives no dose advice.

Mounjaro on the NHS

NICE recommends tirzepatide in guidance TA1026 for adults with a BMI of at least 35 and at least one weight-related comorbidity. NHS England is rolling it out in phases. Specialist weight management services could prescribe from 24 March 2025. GP practices started on 23 June 2025 with the first cohort only: adults with a BMI of 40 or more and four or more of five named conditions (cardiovascular disease, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea and type 2 diabetes). NHS England plans a second cohort in 2026/27 at BMI 35 to 39.9 with four or more conditions, and a third from 2027/28 at BMI 40 or more with three conditions. The full rollout may take up to 12 years. BMI thresholds are reduced by 2.5 for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean backgrounds.

An NHS prescription in England costs £9.90 per item. Prescriptions are free in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The guide to NHS weight loss injections sets out the criteria in full.

Subscription plans

The Dose Club does not advise 3, 6 or 12 month tie-in plans for Mounjaro, because the prices are higher and most of the benefit sits with the pharmacy. Read subscription against pay monthly before you sign anything. Private health insurance is unlikely to cover Mounjaro.

Where the figures come from

All prices come from the GLP Index export of 21 October 2026, which lists 80 UK registered pharmacies for Mounjaro. The licence wording and dosing schedule come from the Mounjaro SmPC on emc. The NHS criteria come from the NICE TA1026 recommendations and NHS England's interim commissioning guidance. The prescription charge comes from the NHS website.

Questions people ask

How much is Mounjaro a month in the UK?

On 21 October 2026 the cheapest ongoing price for a four-week pen ranged from £105.00 at 2.5 mg to £234.00 at 15 mg. The median ongoing price across 80 pharmacies ran from £153.21 to £299.99. At the same dose, the median pharmacy charges £65.99 a month more than the cheapest at 15 mg.

Why is the first Mounjaro order cheaper than the second?

Pharmacies run a new-customer price to win the first sale. At 2.5 mg the cheapest first order was £88.00 and the cheapest ongoing price was £105.00. At the median the same pen cost £133.99 as a first order and £153.21 ongoing. Budget on the ongoing price from month two.

Does the Mounjaro price include the consultation?

Yes for every price on this page. GLP Index records the total a patient pays for one four-week pen, with the prescriber assessment and standard delivery inside the figure. The Mounjaro patient leaflet lists pack sizes of 1 and 3 pens and does not list needles, so ask the pharmacy whether needles, a sharps bin and faster delivery are included or extra.

Can I get Mounjaro on the NHS instead?

Only a small group can at present. NHS England began a phased GP rollout on 23 June 2025 under NICE guidance TA1026. The first group is adults with a BMI of 40 or more and four or more of five named weight-related conditions. An NHS prescription costs £9.90 per item in England and is free in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

What BMI do you need for Mounjaro privately?

The UK licence covers adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 to under 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. A prescriber at a registered pharmacy has to confirm you meet the criteria before any supply.
